Dave,,,did not play one one neck throughout the LP switched necks and had my own method of working two and three necks during the tunes,,, I very rarely played on one neck,,,,could not get those voicings and changes and effects on one neck,,,,for the most part of Idaho these the tunings

High to Low) E-C#-Bb-G# E C# Bb G# ,,,could raise two Bb's 3rd and 7th strings during Cucci's solo had just the right turn to the tuning head,,,to have it down pat,,,,also used A9th as follows

High to Low E C# B G E C# B A ,,, I used some intervals where they could not be played as a full chord across the strings example ,,,would have to use substitute chords and grip to make the chord or parts of the chord never was using a straight across bar slam...would mute the notes I wanted to omit with my fourth finger of my right hand,,,,sounds weird don't it,?? that is why I wanted the triple neck custom once more,,,,,,the four neck is great but those dammed push button switches kept me from switching smoothly from neck to neck.....on the second tuning I would lower the 8th string to a G from an A.......I am trying to get that down pat again with this new guitar (custom) It will take me a while,,,,

On the very first neck closest to me I always used A6th E C# A F# E C# A F#,,,,then I would raise the 3rd A to a B for the 9th chord,,,, I find that the best way for me,,, I do enjoy the pedal steel ,,,much more versatile and fuller,,,but I am used to using substitute chords rather than full in place chords roots etc,,,,used many bar down and open one or two strings on different frets to get those weird sounding chords....Never knew what an art it was until I got into pedal steel,,,its actually easier on the pedal steel but I had ,,but I had no choice back then,,,had to work with what I had,,,,If I tried to play Idaho etc on this D10 Emmons with 9 floor and 6 knee's I could do it ,,,,but would never ever duplicate that sound on the Fender triple. It would just sound like a pedal guitar,,,,that not where my head is at,,,, I wished I could explain better,,, I would sometimes put a band aid on my fourth finger of my right hand to use to kill the note of the string I was trying to eliminate,,,,weird but TRUE,,,,I could tell you many stories,,,ever hear Limehouse Blues???? used a 10 cents hair comb as a bar on part of that,

*****************************

I paid alot for the Fender triple but for whatever time is left for me,,, I want to play all that stuff again,,,when I look down at the guitar I see all the familiar chord change substitutions,,,its;s sort of like going back to an old familiar neighborhood,,,its like I am home again.
